The holiday farm Villa Santa Maria is placed in the centre of the Jasmines Riviera, of which name derives from the production of the very sweet-smelling flower cultivated also in this farm to extract the essence for selling it to the big perfumeries. It is testified by the jasmines distillery that is still in the holiday farm.

The Jasmines Riviera territory is placed along the upper part of the Jonio in the province of Reggio Calabria and includes 42 towns that goes from Palizzi to Monasterace. The landscape in this zone has a particular fascination because visitors have the opportunity to carry out always new and interesting discoveries: from the bright coastal with the immense beaches lapped by the blue Jonio sea to the green hills rich of citrus and olive plantations, from the historical city centres and mountain villages with its precious springs of healthy waters and its thick beech woods and fir woods.

This zone, that is in the territory of the ancient Magna Graecia, is of a great historical interest because of its still visible finds of the biggest civilization of the ancient era.

The holiday farm, placed by the exit of the fast sliding road Jonio-Tirreno, has a strategic point in this zone: in its park it includes the ancient Roman Villa of the Naniglio, that is now in phase of recovery and of which the water cistern can be seen; It is 10 km far from Roccella Jonica with its tourist port and its eighteenth-century fortress; 10 km from Locri Epizefiri with its archaeological excavations 20 km from Gerace with its marvellous ancient medieval village, one of the “ Heritage of Humanity ”; and 30 Km from Stilo where the famous “ Cattolica ” is placed, a jewel of the Byzantine art; 30 Km from Bivongi with its Marmarico falls and the Byzantine monastery of St. Giovanni Theresti; and, at the end, 40 Km from the Serra S. Bruno mountains with its famous XI century Benedectine carthusian monastery
